Van's RV-7 

Based in Oregon, USA, Van’s Aircraft is the world’s most successful home-build aircraft producer with over 10000 aircraft kits (comprising 12 different aircraft types/configurations) now flying in 28 countries.  The Van’s philosophy of 'Total Performance' makes their high-performance RV-7 aircraft particularly well suited to this mission.  Side-by-side seating in a relatively roomy cockpit allows the installation of the additional fuel tanks with minimal impact to the centre of gravity, whilst a large instrument panel will accommodate the required fit of avionics.  The chosen altitude for the circumnavigation is in the 8000-14,000 feet band which will maximise the speed of the aircraft with a cruise target in the region of 170-175 knots (200 mph) – to enable higher for weather and terrain avoidance, oxygen will be fitted.
